About Us

New York Deli was born out of the tough economic climate of 2007 – when we decided to transform our business in Victoria Street and offer a product in a unique way that represented fantastic value for money. We began our journey by making big open sandwiches for our regular customers, hoping they would find comfort in a generous serving in these hard times.

We used the best local ingredients we could find and we stacked the sandwiches so high that we started talking about them as “New York” style – which is where the theme began. The first sandwich created was the ‘Bronx Beef’, which was followed by our ‘New York Pork’ then we kept introducing great new authentic sandwiches that have since become classics, like the Chicken SoHo. It was an exciting time, the start of an all new taste sensation.

It wasn’t long before we started to adopt the the New York term “Hero” for our style of sandwich – as they say, “you need to be a hero to finish one”. The sandwiches were different to anything else on the market and our regular customers seemed to love them. They told their friends and family, and they told their friends and family and soon queues started to extend out the door.

We believe we have a bond with the New Yorkers reputation for hard work, grit and determination and their attitude of dreaming big. So we rolled up our sleeves and created a vibrant, fun and energetic deli just like you would find on the Lower East Side. Then we added great décor featuring lots of red brick, retro photographs and memorabilia, jazz and big band music with classic artists such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Of course we also added us, legendary service – something we now call “the New York Deli way”. Our customers felt great and our atmosphere was fantastic.

After several years our point of difference is still the same – deliver a product that is proudly made from the highest quality, natural wholesome ingredients and is recognised as outstanding value. We treat customers like old friends and do everything we can to ensure you have a great time.
